Five or six apps show up whenever a Singapore parent searches for PSLE Math help online, and at a glance they blur together — AI, practice questions, some kind of dashboard. The prices don't blur together. They range from about $9.90 a month to over $150 a month for one subject, and that gap alone is worth understanding before you commit a school year to one of them.
| App | Price | Subjects | Marking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geniebook | ~$154/month per subject (~$1,850/yr) | English, Math, Science, Chinese | AI instant + human teacher for open-ended answers, a few hours later |
| KooBits | ~$18–22/month (billed annually, $216–264/yr) | Math (+ Science/Chinese/English add-ons) | AI, gamified |
| Klara | $49/month (monthly, cancel anytime) | Math only, P3–P6 | AI |
| Tutorly | $49/month flat | All Singapore syllabus subjects | AI, instant |
| PSLE Hero | Free (20 Qs) → paid app, price not published | English, Math, Science, Chinese | Auto-marked against a fixed key |
| Podium (us) | Free tier, then $9.90–$19.90/month (billing not live yet — see below) | Math only | AI, instant |
Prices are what each company publishes as of August 2026 and can change — check their sites before you commit to anything.
Geniebook is the outlier on cost, and it's not really competing on price — it's selling a human teacher marking your child's working, which the AI-only tools don't do. KooBits and Klara sit in the middle: KooBits locks you into a year, Klara doesn't. Tutorly and PSLE Hero cover more subjects than Podium does, which matters if you don't want four separate subscriptions. We're the cheapest and Math-only, which is either exactly what you want or a dealbreaker, depending on whether you're also looking for English and Science help.
A few of these platforms — Klara and PSLE Hero, by their own marketing — advertise access to "past papers from top schools" like Nanyang Primary, Raffles Girls', or ACS. It's an appealing pitch: your child practices the same questions a top-tier school's own students saw. It's also worth knowing that these papers are the copyrighted property of the schools that wrote them, and how a third-party app obtained a distributable copy usually isn't explained on the page selling them to you.
We don't do that. Podium's questions are generated fresh by AI, matched to the PSLE syllabus and difficulty level, not copied from any school's paper. That's partly a legal choice and partly a practical one — a school's actual prelim paper gets reused and memorized within a term; a system that generates new questions every week doesn't have that problem. If content provenance matters to you, it's worth asking any "top school papers" app directly where theirs came from.
The only one here with real teachers marking open-ended working, not just checking a final answer against a key. That's genuinely different, and it's why the price is what it is. The tradeoff the review sites keep repeating is real: you mostly find out if the approach is working when results come in, not from a live dashboard.
KooBits' gamification (KoKo Credits, daily challenges, leaderboards) is built to work best when it's a whole class using it together, which happens when a school subscribes institutionally. Used solo, you lose the social pull that's the platform's actual selling point. Annual-only billing is a real commitment either way.
Math-only, monthly, no lock-in, straightforward AI marking. The most direct like-for-like comparison to us on paper — the difference is mostly price ($49 vs our $9.90–19.90) and where the practice questions come from (their "top school" papers vs our generated sets).
One flat price for the whole Singapore syllabus is genuinely convenient if you're paying for multiple subjects anyway. It's web-only with no parent dashboard by some accounts, so you don't get the "here's exactly what your child is stuck on" view some of the others offer.
20 free questions with no commitment is a reasonable way to see if AI-generated practice suits your child before any of these platforms get a cent from you. The step from free sample to paid app isn't clearly priced anywhere we could find.
Podium is the cheapest paid option here and the only one where every tier — including what would eventually be our top paid tier — is free to try right now with no card and no signup, at /weekly. That's a real trade for something real: we're newer than Geniebook or KooBits, we're Math-only, we don't have a teacher marking anything yet, and our questions are AI-generated and marked as an unreviewed draft until a human-review step is built — that status is shown on every practice page, not hidden in a footnote. Billing hasn't actually launched yet either; the prices in the table above are what we'll charge once it does, not what you'd be billed today.
If what you want is a human checking your child's working, Geniebook does that and we don't. If your child's school already runs KooBits, that network effect is hard for a standalone app to beat. If you want it all in one page: try the free tools at /tools — an AL score estimator, instant free questions, a 5-question diagnostic — and see whether the questions and the marking feel right before deciding anything.
